Joanne Banks

Mrs Joanne Banks is a Consultant Orthopaedic & Trauma Surgeon at The Royal Liverpool & Broadgreen University Hospitals, where she specialises in knee surgery and in particular arthroscopic/sports injuries. She graduated from the University of Liverpool in 1997 and gained higher surgical training before receiving an MSc in Orthopaedic Engineering from the University of Cardiff in 2006. She is a fellow the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and passed the intercollegiate exam in Orthopaedics and Trauma (FRCS Tr & Orth) in 2008, gaining entry to the specialist register in orthopaedics in February 2009.

Mrs Banks is a member of the British Medical Association, British Orthopaedic Association, British Association for Surgery of the Knee, and of the 2020 Group which is a national group of specialist knee surgeons. She is Educational Supervisor for the higher surgical trainees in the Royal Liverpool & Broadgreen Hospitals and organises the Medical Student orthopaedic teaching programme.

She regularly teaches Advanced Trauma Life Support, Advanced Life Support, and Basic Surgical Skills around the country. In addition she is a member of the event medical team for the British Judo Association and has been an active member of St John Ambulance for over 20 years.
